Basak Sigorta A.S. which was founded under the leadership of the T.C. Ziraat Bankasi in 1959 and Basak Emeklilik A.S. which was founded as a partnership between T.C. Ziraat Bankasi A.S. and Basak Sigorta A.S. on 17 December 1997 under the name of Basak Hayat Sigorta A.S. were acquired in 2006 by Groupama, a powerful European multinational insurance group.

GROUP LIFE INSURANCE

I. Risk Benefits

Death Benefit : If the insured dies within the insurance period when the policy is in force, the risk capital at the date of the death is paid. Risk capital can be defined by the insured. Attached is the table of benefits and premiums.

Accidental Death Benefit : If the insured dies within the insurance period when the policy is in force, twice the risk capital at the date of the death is paid.

Accidental Permanent Disability or Permanent Disability Caused by Illness : If the insured gets disabled permanently as a result of an accident or an illness within the insurance period when the policy is in force, the product of disablement rate and risk capital at the date of disability is paid.

II. Premiums

Risk premium is calculated according to the real ages of the insureds.

III. Premium Payments

The premiums can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually.

IV. Insurance Period

The insurance period is one year.

V. Claim Settlement

A) Death Benefit

Policy (if lost, statement from the insured or beneficiary, duly signed)

Approved copy of the ID card from the Population Department

If required the medical report explaining the cause of death or burial permission

If missing, such decision of the court

If there is no beneficiary, the inheritance decision of the court must be sent to the company.

Death benefit is paid to the beneficiaries, if no beneficiaries is defined it is paid to the legal heirs.

B) Disability Benefit

The medical report explaining the cause and the rate of disability must be sent to the company.

Disability benefit is paid to the insured or his legal representative.

CRITICAL ILLNESS BENEFIT

Article 1. Scope of the Benefit

Critical Illness Benefit is a type of cover which supports the person insured financially when he is alive in case of a critical illness defined in this Special Conditions.

Critical Illness Benefit guarantees not the amount needed for a treatment but the amount of benefit defined.

Basak Hayat Sigorta A.S. Critical Illness Benefit is an optional cover given as rider to Health or Life Insurance.

Article 2. Conditions and Terms

Period : 1 year

Age : 18-64

Waiting Period : 9 months for Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, Hearth Valve Surgery and Aorta Graft Surgery and 90 days for the other illnesses. No waiting period is applied to the renewals. Valid claims occurring after the expiry of the waiting period, will be paid.

Survival Period : Critical Illness sum insured is paid if the person insured survives 30 days after the diagnosis of one or more of the covered illnesses.

Cover's Termination : After the diagnosis of one of the covered illnesses, the Critical Illness Benefit is paid and the policy is terminated. More than one of the critical illnesses occurring at the same time are not covered, the benefit is paid only once for the first illness.

Article 3. The Critical Illnesses

Cancer, Heart Attack, Stroke, Bypass Surgery, Paralysis, Kidney Failure, Major Organ Transplant, Multiple Sclerosis, Heart Valve Surgery, Aorta Surgery, Blindness, Deafness.

Article 4. The Insurer's Liability and Premium Payments

The annual premium can be taken cash or in instalments.

The Insurer's liability starts after the confirmation of the proposal with the first instalment of the premium and the arrangement of the policy.

If the payment is defined either cash or in instalments, the first instalment will be taken when giving the policy and the other instalments will be paid on the dates written on the policy.

Article 5. Claim

5.1. Requirements for Claim

The claim is paid for the insured who has one of the Critical Illnesses with the definitions following which occurs after the waiting period. A practitioner's clinical, radiological, historical report and if requested Basak Hayat Sigorta's one of the cooperating Health Institution's such report will be asked.

5.2. Claim Settlement

The critical illness benefit can be paid to the insured himself or to his heirs.

The claim is paid if,

  • it is not a pre-existing illness which is not mentioned in the personal statement or if Basak Hayat Medical Office does not define it when searching for a claim,
  • it occurs after the waiting period ends,
  • all the documents asked by Basak Hayat Sigorta A.S. are provided,
  • the survival period ends after the date illness is medically proved,
  • none of the articles in the exclusions part is in force.

When critical illness occurs given rider to a health or life policy and if the claims fulfil the related conditions, both the main and the rider benefits will be paid.

If this benefit is given rider to a health policy, the medical expenses will be paid. If it is given rider to a life policy, life cover and HGT will be paid if given additional. HGT is In Hospital Daily Indemnity cover which is given rider to life policies.

At the renewal date, Basak Hayat Sigorta A.S. will decide whether to apply extra premium to related these claims or to exclude them.

After a claim occurring within the waiting period which is not paid, if a second critical illness occurs after the waiting period, the second one will be paid after the survival period.

Article 6. Exclusions

6.1.Critical Illness Benefit is not paid in the above conditions,

6.1.1. intentional self-inflicted injuries while sane or insane or a suicide attempt or

6.1.2. participation in any criminal act or

6.1.3. use of alcohol, poison, narcotics or drugs other than under the direction of a qualified medical practitioner or

6.1.4. war, invasion, hostilities (whether war is declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection by military or usurped power, riot or civil commotion or

6.1.5. Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), AIDS related complex or infection by Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or

6.1.6. participating in or practicing a dangerous sport, including but not limited to hang-gliding, parascending, bobsleighing, steeple chasing, polo-playing, horse-racing, under-water diving, power-boat racing, mountaineering, rock climbing, caving, potholing, and all forms of motor sport and motor-cycle sport, including time trials and hill-climbs or

6.1.7 travel in or on any type of aircraft except as a fare paying passenger on a regularly scheduled passenger flight on a commercial aircraft.

6.2. Claims occurring within the waiting period which is 9 months for Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, Hearth Valve Surgery, Aorta Graft Surgery and 90 days for the other illnesses, are not paid.

6.3. Critical Illness sum insured is paid if the person insured survives 30 days after the diagnosis of one or more of the covered illnesses.

6.4. The pre-existing illnesses and the ones mentioned in the personal statement are excluded. In addition, the pre-existing ones defined by Basak Hayat Medical Office are not paid.

Article 7. General and Special Conditions

This Critical Illness Benefit is the rider of health or life policies of which the General and Special Conditions will be valid in addition to Critical Illness Special Conditions.

PENSION PLAN

Its aims
It helps you to save regularly when you actively earn income and build up a fund for the retirement period.

Eligibility
Anybody who can use civil rights can apply for Pension Plan.

When does pension contract come into effect?
Pension contract commences as of the date first instalment of contribution is paid cash by bank transfer or provision is given for the credit card or bank account. Pension contract goes into effect as of the commencement date.

Entry Fee
Entry fee is postponed to the date participant leaves the system. If the participant stays with Basak Emeklilik for 5 years, this fee is cancelled. Postponed amount of the entry fee is 100% of the gross monthly minimum wage valid at the transaction date. Entry fee is not invested in the pension funds.

Contribution
Contribution is the amount payable by the person executing the agreement for and on behalf of the participant, if any, or by the participant for the duration of the agreement on the dates due. Minimum contribution is 50 million TL or 30 USD or 30 EUR. Additional contributions can be paid for extra saving purpose anytime during contract period. The Company deducts the related management fees from the contributions and additional contributions and invests contributions and additional contributions in the pension funds according to the preferred contribution distribution ratios as of the second working day the amounts received by the pension company at the latest.

Payment Mode
Contributions can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually.

Payment Method
Contributions and additional contributions can be paid by credit card, direct debit or bank transfer.

Management Fee
To meet the management and operation expenses, management fees are deducted from the contributions and additional contributions. Management fee rates are determined separately for each of the contribution and additional contribution amounts paid.

Basak Emeklilik Management Fee table is as follows:

  • Total Gross contribution is management fee
  • 12 times the gross monthly minimum wage or more 0%
  • more than 9 times the gross monthly minimum wage and less than 12 times of it 3%
  • more than 6 times the gross monthly minimum wage and less than 9 times of it 5%
  • 6 times the monthly gross minimum wage or less 7%
  • Pension funds provided in the scope of the plan

All of the pension funds established by Basak Emeklilik are submitted to the participant in the scope of Basak Emeklilik Pension Plan. Pension Funds

  • Government Bonds
  • Liquid Public Fund
  • Public Borrowing Instruments Fund - Foreign Exchange
  • Public Borrowing Instruments Fund - TL
  • Flexible Fund

The participant chooses among pension funds within legal limitations and determines allocation rates for contributions and additional contributions according to the contract provisions.

Fund Management Fee
The expenses arising out of the management of the pension investment funds are met from the fund management fees deducted from the funds. This is daily 0,01% of the net value of pension funds for Basak Emeklilik.

Gaining right for retirement
The participant gains right for retirement provided that he/she remains in the system at least 10 years, pays contributions for 10 years and completes 56 years of age.

If the participant decides to leave the system and take the fund value after gaining right for retirement, he/she can retire by applying to the pension company. Fund value is paid to the participant.

The participant may decide to take part or whole amount of the fund value or buy an annual income insurance with the part or whole amount of the fund value after gaining right for retirement. If the participant decides to buy annual income insurance from the pension company (if the company submits annual income insurance), the regulations which are valid as of the date the participant gains right for retirement will be applied.

Legal tax, stamp, expenditures and other financial liabilities will be deducted from all of the payments made to the participant.

  • With the new law and regulations for pension plans, the Turkish insurance sector is under going great changes. An Individual pension system, which will be complementary to the state social security system on the basis of voluntary participation, was established to direct individual pension savings to investment and to improve the welfare level by providing a supplementary income during retirement.
  • The first "unit-linked" product KBS (Personal Savings Plan - Kisisel Birikim Sigortasi) created in Turkey is by Basak Hayat. This product offers three funds which is a flexible investment possibility compared to other products in the market.
