Jiwasraya Life Insurance is the oldest life insurance company in Indonesia (founded in 1859) and the only state-owned enterprise operating in the life insurance industry. In keeping with its constitution this company has the following objectives and business activities :

The companys objectives include :

• To take active part in the implementation and promotion of national policies in general through the life insurance business.

• To take active part in providing assistance, in the form of both capital and improvement of skill, marketing and management.

The companys business activities :

• Direct insurance covering life insurance, health insurance, pool insurance, pension (deferred annuities) and co-insurance.
• Reinsurance/retrocession for retention purposes
• Anything related to the life insurance industry in its broadest sense, for example : Operating in all three areas of life insurance business : ordinary life, and group life and corporate business, it operates a number of distribution channels and modes, including agency distribution, staff sales, direct marketing and network participation. It sells a wide range of products, including wholelife, endowment, level term, decreasing term, credit life, group life including death, health, accident and disability benefits,the latter poolable within the Insurope system.

The company has 2,000 employees and 10,000 agents working in 17 branches, 71 districts and 100 marketing offices in the Indonesian Archipelago.
